Elizabeth David is by far one of my favorite cookbook authors to read. Basically? She’s hilarious. She’s a bit bossy … and I like that. But she’s rather pragmatic about it, somehow knowing we won’t quite be able to get it right … so she encourages. I adore her books. And what better to read over in a hot July afternoon than her Christmas cookbook.
Rather, it’s a compilation of various writings of hers that she feels fits the Christmas bill … or that she just thinks we’d find useful. Her intro is a fun read, and like any David book, requires a glass of wine to pair with … I’ll go “summer” with this one though, and opt for a pert rosé.
